From Fr. Peter's Desk: 13th January 2017

Yes the decorations were taken down and the Crib was stored away as Christmas time gives way to ordinary time. But before all the Christmassy things were removed the baptismal team invited the families of the baptised children to a special participation in the 12.45 Mass on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord.

This yearly tradition permits the entire parish to receive into the community the children baptised over the previous year and to offer them the warmth and support of this faith community. The schools are back and the sacramental programme gets into full swing. The DTIM team already had its first meeting to plan some of the special masses of preparation.

The Readers Club had their meeting and as well as going through the readings of the month they managed, with great effort, to finish off a pizza or two. Young readers from Sandyford are also participating in the Club. Wednesday was very busy in the parish centre as the hospitality group held its weekly gathering after the 10.00 Mass.

In the evening time a group of very brave and committed parishioners organized the first ever “OPERATION TRANSFORMATION” in Balally Parish. They are determined to make the New Year a healthier one. You will be able to spot them every Wednesday night around 19.30 as the group in high viz jackets walk and talk their way to a healthier life. After their walk they came back to the Pastoral entre for a cup of tea … and fruit… and a weigh in.

All the other groups, teams and choirs were back to normal activities… it promises to be a busy year
